Focussing on the readings from Luke chapters 22 & 23, we will reflect on the shame Jesus endured, and the shame experienced by people within our community. The service will include communion and then will end in silence and darkness.

        Enjoy breakfast and conversation prior to the Easter Worship service.

        Please bring finger foods to share (muffins, Paska or other baked goods, cheese & crackers, fruit).

        Coffee and juice will be provided.

        Please remember to bring your own dishes for your family plates, cutlery, glasses/mugs.

        No peanuts or sesame due to allergies.

        We invite you to bring tulips* and daffodils* to decorate the cross and sanctuary on Easter Sunday.

        *Due to many scent allergies, please ensure floral arrangements do not include any other flowers.

        Please keep the flowers with you at your seat. There will be a time to bring them up front after the start of the service.

In and Around Valleyview

 

Student In A Box (Shoebox) Gifting 
Our college and university students are finishing essays and preparing for final exams in April. The Student In a Box gifting program seeks to help them feel God s love and remind them their church family is thinking about them at this time of year.

 

On the library counter outside the Sanctuary s main doors are shoeboxes with a Valleyview student s name on them. This Sunday, please consider picking one (or more), filling it, and arranging delivery in the first two weeks of April.

 

Ideas to fill the boxes and remind them of home & Easter: 
-Home-made goods (soup mix, cookies, etc.) 
-Gift cards (coffee, convenience food, retail, etc.) 
-Seasonal greeting card or postcard 

-Favourite snacks or candy 

-Inspirational/d cor (coasters, magnet, photo frame, festive lights, mug, etc.) 
-Fun (fidgets, a magazine, a book for summer reading, etc.) 
-Practical (hygiene items, school supplies, cozy socks, etc.)

Valleyview Mennonite Church - Open Volunteer Positions

June 2026 to May 2027

 

Thank you to all of our Valleyview volunteers! We have several open positions for the coming church volunteer year (June 2026 to May 2027), and we'd appreciate your consideration for these important roles. Please refer to the accompanying Role Descriptions document for more details on each position. Don't hesitate to contact Ben R or Daniel H on Church Council if you'd like more information or are ready to volunteer.

    • Seeking one new Director for Chair position (corporation President).
  • Coordinator(s) - Food and Funeral Committee
    • A key position: requires someone with the willingness to learn the ins and outs of the kitchen and the flexibility to provide support for mid-week events such as funerals.

    • Works closely with the coordinator(s) to ensure there are enough volunteers for food service at church events.

Meeting Notice

 

This is notice of the Annual General Meeting of the Members to be held on Saturday, April 11th, 2026, at 10:00 am. This meeting will encompass topics from both the Board and Church Council. The purpose of this meeting will be to approve the 2025 financial statements through the Review Engagement Process, approve the election of Directors and of a slate of volunteers, affirm or adjust the 2026 Budget (if required), and any other

business.

 

Non-members are welcome to attend and participate in all discussions; however, non-members are not eligible to vote.

Silver Lake Mennonite Camp (slmc.ca) 

Silver Lake is searching for volunteers to help for one week on the kitchen and maintenance teams!  

Kitchen - Work with the Head Cook and kitchen staff to feed our campers, staff, and volunteers! Each day includes a long break in the afternoon where you can enjoy all Silver Lake has to offer. 

Maintenance - Help tackle our project list from fixing and painting, to building and trail-work!

Scent-Free Zone: Severe Scent Allergy

Valleyview is a scent-free zone as many participants have strong reactions to scented products. Please refrain from using all scented products: cologne, perfume, hairspray, hand and body lotion.

No Peanuts: Allergy Alert

Some members in attendance experience serious peanut allergy. Please refrain from bringing, eating, or serving any food labelled as containing peanuts or with warning May contain peanuts .

Please wear a facemask if you feel more comfortable and remember to stay home if you are not feeling well.
